About Us
Grow
With Me opened in March 2008 as Scio Township’s only children’s
resale store. The creation of Elyssa Mount and Marni Hochman, Grow With
Me promises to become a valued community resource where parents and children
can come together to shop, talk, and play.
Elyssa Mount found a way to combine her love for bargain shopping with her passion for helping those families facing the challenges of autism. Elyssa’s son Gabe, now six years old, was diagnosed with autism when he was a toddler. Grow With Me provides a means for families to find quality used and new children’s clothing and accessories at great prices, while providing funding for programs and assistance for families of children with autism. A portion of all sales will be donated to the Ann Arbor Autism Foundation and the Autism Society of Washtenaw County.
Before
opening the store, Marni Hochman worked part-time at the Lamaze Family Center
with both expecting families and those with children. As her youngest of
two children was preparing to enter kindergarten, she felt it was time for
more full-time employment. But she still wanted to stay actively rooted
in the community and to do work involving parents and their children. Marni
wanted to create a service-oriented shop where parents feel comfortable
asking questions and receiving helpful suggestions and to which both they
and their children would enjoy coming. And that’s what we hope you
will find at Grow With Me.
